Name: Samuel Thomas
Job title: Project Engineer
Interests/hobbies: Fitness and Nutrition
How long have you been at Limejump?: 2.5 years
My role as a Project Engineer involves the scoping of customer sites, enabling us to come up with a plan to integrate Limejump’s hardware. It is our proprietary hardware installed on a customer’s site that enables our platform to instruct a customers’ assets when required. In doing so, I must ensure that any solutions we go ahead with are inline with the project’s go-live dates and meet National Grid’s requirements. To minimise any potential delays in the handover process, I am in constant communication with our customers, keeping them aligned with our project pipeline.
Rarely are two days the same as a Project Engineer at Limejump, one day may consist of travelling over a hundred miles to a customer site to carry out a site survey, another day may consist of testing new solutions that enable us to quickly adapt to any changes within the industry. I also work closely with the Operations team to ensure all our equipment is operating at optimum levels and assisting when maintenance is required. Overall, my role is very versatile and there is always something to do. With this being said, collaboration with my team and other departments at Limejump is essential to making every day at work successful and exciting.
The Engineering team face a number of challenges that are critical to the operation of our department, and our customers assets. One of the main challenges is keeping our equipment online and minimising any loss of control of a customer asset. Another challenge would be keeping up-to-date with changes made by the National Grid, ensuring our customers receive the best service possible.
Fore me, it was the awesome working environment and the willingness to help you grow as an individual that excited me. Limejump gives you the opportunity to think outside the box and they actively support your career progression. Fore example, the innovation card is a unique benefit, I spend my annual fund on books and short courses to ensure I progress in my career and as an individual.
I would have to say having the ability to integrate with various assets and the understanding of how the industry works. The power market in the UK is complex and continually evolving, it is fair to say that this is probably the most exciting time to be in the energy industry. I’m proud to play a role in the UK’s transition to a renewable energy landscape.
I like that Limejump, as a whole, is a forward-thinking company always looking to take things to the next level. The growth that has taken place in the time that I have been working here really shows that we are moving in the right direction and I’m confident that there is so much more to come.
I would advise that if you’re looking for a friendly, creative and ambitious work environment then look no further. At Limejump there is a real incentive to push for career progression and your efforts do not go unnoticed. There are various levels of experience within the company, and I think that it helps a lot with the settling in process, especially if you’re coming to Limejump from a different industry.
